Default redundant DNS?

Hi

I would like to make a question about Solidhost's dns.

I am a reseller and using solidhost's ns : ns3-4.solidhost.com - I would like to know how redundant the dns operation is.

Tracerouting ns3 + ns4 : ns3 is located at US while ns4 is located at NL, so when there is network problem in gnax OR hardware problem on the server in gnax, will the 2nd nameserver (ns4) at NL accept the requests?

I am asking because I recently have a 3rd party provider for email hosting - email seems to be the most critical for the clients.

Thank you
Antonis

Hi Antonis,

These nameservers are in a different geographical location as you pointed out, which is done for redundancy. If one of the two locations would have an outage (for any reason), the other one will still be online.

hello, how can we set up 2 nameservers located in different servers to exchange data? I mean how could we set up redundant name servers as well?

Hi,

On cPanel this is supported as a standard (DNS clustering). It's possible with other control panels too - although I believe it doesn't support that out of the box.

If you need any help setting this up, you can always open a support ticket and ask our support techs to take care of this.
