Unhappy Restart webserver

Yesterday I received the following message: "We have scheduled a kernel upgrade on the node on which your VPS is hosted, tonight at 22.30 (10.30 PM) Amsterdam local time. In order to load the new kernel, the server must be rebooted, which will cause your VPS to be down for approximately 5 minutes."

This morning all my websites where down. After restarting Apache they where back online.
The websites have been down for 8 hours, 59 minutes, 38 seconds.

Does this happen often with such a kernel upgrade?
Can Solidhost do something to prevent this problem?

Hi Rob,

A kernel upgrade doesn't cause services not to start up again. If your services didn't start up, that probably means they aren't set to start at boot time - or perhaps your VPS ran out of RAM. It's not really possible to tell what the problem was without investigating your VPS, so it would be best if you could open a support ticket so our techs can take a look at it for you.
